For the love of God (1993 / re-edited 2021)
Series total – 120 images.
When these pictures were taken, nearly 30 years ago, on some unintentionally out of date kodachrome film stock, they seemed then a straight forward documentation of the singular and unparalleled built landscape of Yemen. Over the last half decade, spurred by news of ceaseless death and devastation and knowing of the countries, including mine, that have continued to supply ordnance for this war, I have kept looking at them again and again, and they have accrued, to my mind, a more sombre and darker resonance. In my mind For the love of God now asks a question; why have we contributed to, and encouraged, the bombing and crippling of this land?
